Pitluk, an investigative reported for Time Magazine, tells the true story of James Scott, accused and convicted in a levee break and sentenced to life in prison. Set during the Great Midwestern Floods of 1993, the town of West Quincy, IL is devastated by a levee break. Scott, a local troublemaker trying to redeem his reputation, volunteers as one of the watchers of the levee during the storms. After reporting a small leak, he is advised to return and keep an eye on it. This turns into the levee break the town dreaded.
