Tyranny of Email
By John Freeman
Our Shelf Talker
John Freeman does a couple of things in the book. First he establishes the negative impact of email by using the example that by depriving ourselves of facial expressions when we communicate we are missing out on the human component. “Nothing, especially LOL can quite convey the sound of a friend’s laughter.” Then he’s quite practical about how to use email politely. This is a good resource for our tech times.Roxanne
Too Much Happiness
By Alice Munro
Our Shelf Talker
Here is the author in her late 70's and she comes out with this incredible book. She's never awarded her heroines with happy endings and this is certainly the case in this collection of short stories. What is amazing is her ability to allow the reader to reside for a time inside her characters and their lives. Best short story writer ever.- Rose from the Faith Middleton Show
Too Big to Fail: The Inside Story of How Wall Street and Washington Fought to Save the Financial System from Crisis---And Lost
By Andrew Ross Sorkin
Our Shelf Talker
Andrew Sorkin is a business columnist for the New York Times, and a really smart journalist in the world of finance. Too Big to Fail really brings you inside these rooms as these huge decisions are being made. Sorkin presents a sophisticated understanding as to how these failures and follies took place, and shows people scrambling to make decisions in the face of catastrophe.- Roxanne
Thirteen Reasons Why
By Jay Asher
Our Shelf Talker
This book is the story of Hannah, a teen who sends a recording of her story to the thirteen peers who she feels are the cause of her suicide. This book is shocking, eye-opening, jarring, and it proves how easy it is to judge an action as non-impactful, when really, it’s a matter of life or death to someone else.- Roxanne
Therese Raquin
By Emile Zola
Our Shelf Talker
Zola wrote the first of what are considered novels exploring the psychology of its characters - this feels incredibly contemporary, addressing issues of marriage, disappointment and adultery - plenty to talk about!- Roxanne
The World is Your Oyster
By Tamara James
What do you do when your world is raining cats and dogs, you’re up to your neck in alligators, and all you want to do is bury your head in the sand? When children read this empowering book of animal idioms illustrated in gorgeous, vibrant watercolors, they learn new ways to express themselves. This playful book teaches the complexities of language — and that's straight from the horse’s mouth!

The Way We Live Now
By The Way We Live Now
Our Shelf Talker
This is my idea of a perfect beach read. Gossipy and enthralling, Trollope shows us that greed on Wall Street is not a new phenomenon. One of my favorite writers.- Roxanne
The Wasted Vigil
By Nadeem Aslam
Our Shelf Talker
This is not for the faint of heart, but it is one of the most beautifully written books about an astonishing and devastatingly sad tale of what it means to be in Afghanistan right this minute. This is a story of what its like to be boots on the ground—to know the lives that are lost, to see the bodies that are damaged, to meet the minds that are unraveled. You've read about the war, and you know about what happens, but you can't quite understand it until you pick up The Wasted Vigil.-Roxanne
The Tree That Time Built
By Mary Ann Hobermnan
I was mesmerized by this book. The poems are about science, nature and imagination. It features every big name poet and has a CD which is great for home and the car. It has a gorgeous cover and delightful pencil drawings on the inside pages. This is my new favorite poetry book for kids and even adults.
