Audience Appreciation Reception
Please join Ann Patchett for a special Audience Appreciation reception to be held in the Ives Main Library Program Room.  Come and meet Ann and enjoy some dessert as we prepare to be dazzled by her reading.  Tickets are $25.00.  All proceeds benefit the New Haven Free Public Library Foundation to support the adult fiction collection.

Public Reading
Ann Patchett is the author of six novels: the New York Times bestselling State of Wonder; Run; The Patron Saint of Liars, which was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year; Taft, which won the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize; The Magician’s Assistant; and Bel Canto, which won the PEN/Faulkner Award, the Orange Prize and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. She is also the author of two works of nonfiction: the New York Times bestselling Truth & Beauty and What Now? Patchett has written for many publications, including the Atlantic Monthly, Harper’s Magazine, Gourmet, the New York Times, Vogue, and the Washington Post.

The New Haven Free Public Library, in partnership with R.J. Julia Booksellers and First Niagara, is thrilled to welcome Ann.  She will read from her current novel State of Wonder.
Copies of that title will be available for purchase and a book signing will immediately follow the reading.

The Kirkus Review noted of State of Wonder, “A spellbinder from bestselling author Patchett...Thrilling, disturbing and moving in equal measures - even better than Patchett's breakthrough Bel Canto (2001) and Publisher’s Weekly wrote “Patchett is a master storyteller who has an entertaining habit of dropping ordinary people into extraordinary and exotic circumstances to see what they're made of. [An] expansive page-turner...Patchett's fluid prose dissolves in the suspense of this out-there adventure...that readers will hate to see end.”

This special literary event is free and open to the public.  Prepare to be entertained by a major force in literary circles today!
