January brings a new Serge Storms adventure — this time with a Wisconsin couple lost in Florida. Mayhem follows. What’s the best cure for the blues after you get laid off from your job up north in the snow? What else but a budget vacation in Florida? But when Patrick and Barbara McDougal arrive, they discover that the pretty motel on the website photos isn’t so pretty in real life. Or so safe either. And as much as they try, they can’t get their money back which would let them go elsewhere. Once they are robbed of all their belongings, it’s time to give up and head home, but they can’t board a plane without their drivers licenses, which the thieves got. Nor can they board a bus without money. More desperation leads to more crime against them, and they discover that the police are even more intimidating than the bandits.
