Staff Reviews

You don’t have to be a naturalist or scientist to appreciate this lovely book—it truly reads like a novel.  Peter Wohlleben not only uncovers the secrets of trees, but the joys, too. More importantly, he helps us to better understand that “undisturbed forests are vital to the future of our planet.” Slip this small volume into your coat pocket, head into the woods, and remember: slow down, breathe deep, and look around—you will be in awe at the wonders that surround you.

— Susan

Mind. Blown. I'll never look at a tree or woods the same way again. You know how in Lord of the Rings trees can talk to each other and work together to protect their forest? Well apparently that's not just the stuff of fantasy writing; it's really what's happening! Well and expertly written. Wohlleben ties together his experience as a forester with some of the latest scientific findings. Fascinating!

— Ethan

This book is both a magical voyage into the beauty and majesty of trees as well as a demonstration of the power of Mother Nature. Just as compelling and inspiring as the original prose book, The Hidden Life of Trees, this edition will leave the reader both humbled and awe inspired.  A must for the nature lover in your life!

“The Hidden Life of Trees reads like a 250-page epiphany. Wohlleben knows trees inside and out, and his revelatory examination of the inner lives of forests provides evidence of what many sensitive nature-lovers long suspected: that trees form friendships, sustain one another, and should be viewed as more than a natural resource. This is the kind of writing that can profoundly affect the way we live on this planet.”
— Stephen Sparks (W), Green Apple Books on the Park, San Francisco, CA
