Goodspeed Cyrano poster imageThe legendary romance about a proud and impassioned poet who ghostwrites love letters is rekindled in a timeless and unconventional new musical.

Cyrano agrees to woo his true love, Roxanne, on behalf of another in this classic tale of unrequited love. New music by members of the Grammy Award-winning indie alternative band The National drives this story of mistaken identity, selfless courage, and buried desire.

Adapted by Erica Schmidt from Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand
Music by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National
Lyrics by Matt Berninger of The National and Carin Besser
Choreographed by Jeff & Rick Kuperman
Directed by Erica Schmidt

Goodspeed mounts both new and newly revived musicals each year on our main stage at the Opera House and on our second stage in Chester, The Norma Terris Theater, for a total of more than 400 performances during the April to December season attracting 130,000 patrons to the Connecticut River Valley. Goodspeed stands at the forefront of producing and preserving the American musical, simultaneously reinventing the classics and inventing new ones. Goodspeed attracts well-known icons of the theatre world and fosters emerging talent among composers, lyricists, and librettists. Each year, thousands of actors, directors, choreographers, and technicians aspire to come to Goodspeed to practice their craft. Among millions who know and love this art form – and those who appreciate its history and enduring appeal – Goodspeed is widely recognized as “The Home of the American Musical.”
