Is there any better combination than books and wine? We don't think so!
Find the perfect pairing with Janine Sacco, wine buyer of our neighbor, The Wine Thief of Madison. She'll expertly guide a tasting, using The World Atlas of Wine by Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson to explore a variety of wines. Janine's deep knowledge of wine and knack for storytelling means this evening will serve both education and entertainment—perfect for connoisseurs and amateurs alike!
The Wine Thief, established in 1996, is an award-winning boutique wine shop with locations around New Haven County. Our mission is to encourage wine education and experimentation by creating a casual, unintimidating environment and featuring an eclectic array of products. We focus on small producers, little known regions and styles, organic and natural wines in order to provide our customers with a truly unique buying experience. Our highly experienced staff is always on hand with a recommendation.
We realize that recommending wine is about more than knowing vintages and having a fancy vocabulary; its about getting to know people and understanding what they are look for. That’s why we talk with our customers and get to know them and their tastes. Enjoying wine is about being comfortable, sharing experience, and truly enjoying the moment. At The Wine Thief it is important to us that you feel like you have made the right selection – every time.
Janine Sacco is one of the rising stars of Connecticut’s wine scene. After working in some of New York and Connecticut’s more storied restaurants [Gotham Bar and Grill, Eleven Madison Park, Union League Café, etc], she made her formal entry into the world of fine wine as the Wine Director of The Wine Thief on Crown Street in New Haven in 2013. She is a certified sommelier, advanced with the WSET, and recipient of the Walter Clore scholarship for top achievement. She is thrilled to be back in her hometown working with The Wine Thief of Madison as the Wine and Spirits Director.
