Position: Product Marketing Manager

Location: Madison, CT

Just the Right Book is looking to hire a qualified, entrepreneurial Product Marketing Manager to join our team.

Just the Right Book is an e-commerce company founded over ten years ago. As a premier book subscription service, JTRB is unique among its competitors.  Our well-read staff hand selects titles, based on the customer’s reading preferences. As JTRB continues to evolve, we seek to advance our competitive market share by expanding upon our distinctive product offerings both direct-to-consumer and B2B.

Our ideal candidate is a talented professional with demonstrable e-commerce skills and marketing experience. As Product Marketing Manager, the candidate should thrive under deadlines while ensuring customer engagement, superior brand consistency, and highest quality customer relations. While the job requires the ability to act independently, a sense of urgency and the confidence to handle a variety of challenges, a full commitment to driving the results of the business and high standards of achievement are expected in this position.


  • Initiate and own the nature and scope of present and future product lines and services; appraises and evaluates new product ideas and/or product changes.
  • Accountable for results, preparing short-term and long-term sales forecasts and reports and analyses.
  • Lead strategy and growth in collaboration with the Marketing Manager and the Customer Service Manager.
  • Proactively innovate, bringing new products to market.
  • Challenge market competition by comparing JTRB’s products to competitors' products.
  • Achieve optimum product availability by reviewing and adjusting production schedules, order volume, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience (3+ years) in product development/management for e-commerce
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product design throughout its lifecycle
  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to the Management Team
  • Results-driven knowledge of SEO, web traffic, Google Analytics, and social media metrics
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in web technologies
  • Strong problem-solving, innovation, and time-management skills
  • Persuasive written and verbal communication skills

Position: Bookseller

Location: Madison, CT

Our booksellers are the heart and soul of the bookstore. If hired, you'll be joining a very special group of people who are passionate about books and providing top-notch service to our loyal customers. 

Our booksellers are dynamic and energetic with a passion for books; customer service oriented; have the ability to multi-task; and have great attention to detail and problem solving skills.

This is an entry level position and shifts will include nights and weekends.

Position: Event Host - Per Diem

Location: Madison, CT; Middletown, CT

RJ Julia Booksellers is looking for an organized, responsible, creative and dynamic problem-solver to join our talented team of Event Hosts.

Event Hosts set up and host author readings/book signing for a variety of adult and children’s events.

This position is responsible for individual event management.  There are approximately 250+ events executed each year ranging from 15-1,000+ participants.

The hours for this position are mostly in the afternoon/evening and some weekends and may vary week to week based on the event schedule.


  • Execute events in a style that provides a unique and enjoyable customer experience – to inspire loyalty and return visits from our current customers and attract new visitors to the store;

  • Oversee all event set-up and breakdown (moving furniture, setting up folding chairs).

  • Welcome the author and guests as they arrive; introduce the author at the beginning of the event.

  • Manage the timeline of the event, oversee the book signing portion of the event.

  • Track book sales and attendance. Take photos for use on social media.

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous event management experience preferred.

  • Public speaking experience.

  • Must bring a strong work ethic!

  • An energetic, outgoing candidate will thrive in this position.

  • Must be comfortable standing for extended periods of time, lifting, and moving furniture.

  • Multi-tasking: This position includes a variety of tasks, so being able to multi-task and to prioritize tasks is very important.

  • Book Lover: Since we're in the business of books, ideal applicants will share our enthusiasm for the business. Knowledge of publishing, industry and media trends; competitors' practices and community related news and issues is helpful.
