RJ Julia Booksellers is looking for an organized, responsible, creative and dynamic problem-solver to join our talented team of Event Hosts.
Event Hosts set up and host author readings/book signing for a variety of adult and children’s events.
This position is responsible for individual event management. There are approximately 250+ events executed each year ranging from 15-1,000+ participants.
The hours for this position are mostly in the afternoon/evening and some weekends and may vary week to week based on the event schedule.
Execute events in a style that provides a unique and enjoyable customer experience – to inspire loyalty and return visits from our current customers and attract new visitors to the store;
Oversee all event set-up and breakdown (moving furniture, setting up folding chairs).
Welcome the author and guests as they arrive; introduce the author at the beginning of the event.
Manage the timeline of the event, oversee the book signing portion of the event.
Track book sales and attendance. Take photos for use on social media.
Previous event management experience preferred.
Public speaking experience.
Must bring a strong work ethic!
An energetic, outgoing candidate will thrive in this position.
Must be comfortable standing for extended periods of time, lifting, and moving furniture.

The RJ Julia Booksellers intern will be involved in a wide variety of marketing and promotions tasks, which include assisting with:
Though the position will include a number of administrative tasks, we welcome our interns to shape their experience here according to their specific interests and talents. In addition to general assignments, we also encourage each intern to design a long-term project based on their unique skills and passions.
Interns work approximately 10 hours/week (flexible hours, Monday-Friday).
• Computer Skills: Applicants must be competent in Microsoft Word and Excel, Facebook and Twitter, and would ideally be familiar with Pinterest, Microsoft Publisher and Photoshop.
• Writing Skills: Interns may be asked to write press releases, draft letters to area organizations, create flyers, etc.
• Multi-tasking: This position includes a variety of tasks, so being able to multi-task is important.
• Book Lover: Since we're in the business of books, ideal applicants will share our enthusiasm for the business.
• High school and college students only, please.
